On Wednesday 2 October 2024 the Renevlyn Development Initiative (RDI) organized a hybrid Media Interactive on State of Mining Communities in Nasarawa. The event Co organised with its partners – Environmental Defenders Network (EDEN) and the Citizens Free Service Forum (CFSF) had national news mediums in attendance. RDI ED, Philip Jakpor disclosed that the organizations have petitioned the Nasarawa State House of Assembly on the state of mining communities in Nasarawa.
The affected communities are Uke district in Karu Local Government Area and Abuni community in Awe Local Government Area.
The petition has been sent to the Nasarawa State House of Assembly through the Chair, House Committee on Environment.
Interventions at the event were taken from the Executive Director of Environmental Defenders Network (EDEN), Barrister Chima Williams, Executive Director of Citizens Free Service Forum (CFSF), Comrade Sani Baba and Isah Abubakar who is also from Awe LGA
RDI also showed the journalists pictures and amateur videos of the state of the environment in the communities.
