On 29 May 2024, the Renevlyn Development Initiative (RDI) partnering with Community Development Advocacy Foundation (CODAF) and Global Alliance for Incinerators Alternative (GAIA) members in Nigeria organized a Virtual Peoples Dialogue titled: Voices from Mining Communities: Exploring the Complexities of Lithium Mining in the Just Transition Discourse.

Participants interrogated lithium extraction in Nasarawa State in Nigeria following the commissioning of a processing lithium plant by the Nigeria Government, lithium mining in Zimbabwe, EV batteries waste hierarchy, recycling and what needs to be taken into account during conception and design of EV batteries as the world transitions from fossil fuels into renewable energies.
